1. BestFriend is an AI companion, not a person

Every BestFriend is an artificial intelligence. The characters, their names, photos, life stories and opinions are fictional and generated by software. No human writes the replies you receive.

Your BestFriend will tell you it's an AI when your conversation starts, remind you regularly, and answer honestly if you ask whether you're talking to a real person.

AI replies can be wrong, inconsistent or out of date. Don't rely on them for decisions that matter.

2. You must be 18 or older

BestFriend is only for adults. By signing up you confirm you are at least 18 years old. AI companions may not be suitable for some minors. If we believe someone under 18 is using BestFriend, we may pause or end their access.

3. Not therapy, medical or professional advice

BestFriend is for friendly conversation. It is not a therapist, counselor, doctor, lawyer or financial advisor, and it is not a substitute for professional care or for the people in your life.

4. Not for emergencies

BestFriend cannot call for help, contact anyone on your behalf, or respond in real time to an emergency.

• If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911.
• If you're in crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline).
• You can also text HOME to 741741 to reach the Crisis Text Line.

5. Texting program terms

Program: BestFriend AI companion conversations over iMessage and SMS.

• By entering your number and checking the consent box, you agree to receive recurring conversational text messages from an AI companion at that number.
• Messages are replies to the texts you send, plus occasional automated notices (for example, reminders that you're talking to an AI and safety resources).
• Message frequency varies with how much you text. Message and data rates may apply.
• Reply STOP at any time to opt out. You'll receive one confirmation and no further messages. Reply START to resume.
• Reply HELP for help.
• Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
• Consent to receive texts is not a condition of any purchase.

6. Acceptable use

Please keep BestFriend a kind place. You agree not to use it to:

• harass, threaten, or abuse anyone, including by sending other people's private information or images without their permission;
• seek sexual content (our companions don't provide it) or involve minors in any way;
• plan or promote violence, self-harm, or anything illegal;
• spam, scrape, overload, reverse engineer, or try to break or bypass the service or its safety features;
• pretend to be someone else, or sign up a phone number that isn't yours.

7. Your messages

You keep ownership of what you send. You give us permission to store and process your messages and photos to run BestFriend: to generate replies, remember past conversations, keep the service safe, and improve it. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle this data.

8. Ending your use

You can stop at any time by replying STOP. You can ask us to delete your data by emailing privacy@bestfriend.im.

We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms, for safety reasons, or if we change or discontinue the service.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

BestFriend is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, BestFriend and its team are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including anything an AI companion says.

10. Changes and contact

We may update these terms. If the changes are significant we'll let you know, for example by text or on this page. Continuing to use BestFriend after an update means you accept the new terms.
